Ground On All Components

Overview

Ground On All is a command for grounding all components in the active edit document of an Inventor assembly. This tool helps prevent components from shifting during multiple modifications, ensuring that the assembly remains stable and organized throughout the editing process.

Grounding components temporarily is good practice when you want to make several changes but do not want any of the components to move. For example, in a duct system where all components are connected end to end, changing the length of one component can affect the positions of others. Grounding all components until adjustments are complete and no constraint errors are found ensures that all branches and adjacent fittings remain in place.

How It Works

  1. Launch the Ground On All command from the Configure panel.
  2. All components in the active edit document are grounded.
  3. Grounded components are visually identified, often by a color override set by Ground Color.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open your assembly in Inventor.
  2. Click the Ground On All button in the Configure panel.
  3. Verify that all components are grounded and visually identified as such.

Troubleshooting

  1. If some components are not grounded, ensure they are not locked or constrained by other relationships.
  2. Check for conflicts with other appearance overrides.
  3. Verify that the components are editable in the active document.

Examples

  1. Ground all parts before editing: Use Ground On All to prevent movement while making changes to the assembly.
  2. Visually identify grounded components: Assign a color to grounded parts for easy recognition.
  3. Maintain assembly stability: Ground all components to keep branches and fittings in place during modifications.
